Who do I follow? Why do I follow? A selection of Twitterers. My #FF A1 list.

This is a short(ish) list of people and organizations I follow. I have many private Twitter lists. This is just the composition of ONE of them. This list does include absolute favourites, the important ones and the interesting ones and the ones to watch. Some have been TwitterFriends for years. (Thank you). Some are there for balance. Some are there because I’m interested in what they say, yet do not agree with them at all. To test your beliefs you should put them against another persons beliefs. Some are there because I agree close to 100% with them. Some are there for entertainment. Some are there because they produce good content. Not all of them follow me back. Some of them,  I do not follow on Twitter.

This is not a political list. Some on here are diametrically opposed to one another. It’s an information list.  Some people, that are long time followers, aren’t in here. Don’t be concerned, you’re probably on another list!

I‘m right of the Left and I‘m left of the Right. I‘m a trans–political wanderer in the political wilderness. 

 Unlike many echo-chambering accounts, I DO think I am mature enough to look at anarchists, Commies, socialists, centrists, conservative, traditionalists and ethno-nationalists without being swayed by any of them!  

They have been added to a private Twitter List call A_A01\00 A0 TopList tweeters. This is only for alphabetical order. It has 176* (update March 2021 to 169) people and organizations listed. *Helen Pluckrose has two accounts and both are included. Jarvis DuPont has been suspended, yet is still listed. Glinner got banned, yet is no longer included in total. The account of Rachel Oates, atheist youtuber is no longer the same. Did she leave Twitter, rename or end her account? 

This is fixed to 6th July 2020(144). Any New additions will be included in the list and in the total.

Whatever your perspective, I appreciate you all. In some way you shape my thinking, either i’ll be “I like this idea!” or “I hate this idea!” or “Hmmm, further thinking is required!

Those in bold are currently following me back. If I put Legend next to them it means faultless content. These are not really endorsements. Some are not activated because I respect their privacy or I’m not sure if they want to be listed. Some people may not like to be in a list with others they vehemently disagree with. [Anyone here listed that wants to be deactivated in this blog, please say so.] I’m glad I never added Owen Jones to This list. Never was a favourite. In any case he’s blocked me.(Jan 2021)

I look at these accounts daily. From what they are discussing I can get a feeling on how to approach my tweeting and what I’m going to say.

There’s at least 56-85 liberals in here. Around 18-20 on the right\Traditionalist\conservative. 1 is a declared apolitical.  Then  21+with no affiliations or classic liberals. 1 is a dedicated Catholic YouTube music channel. I point this out before anyone says “HOW DARE YOU? YOU’VE GOT CONSERVATIVES AND THE RIGHT WING ON THIS LIST!”

I WILL REPEAT TO THOSE THAT DO THIS- I AM NOT ONE FOR BEING IN AN ECHOCHAMBER! If you do not like who I follow, you have the choice of unfollowing. I follow plenty here, NOT because I agree with them, but only to SEE what they are tweeting about. If you believe in guilt by association, f*ck off!

I will point out that there’s few declared and dedicated socialists, commies or Anarchists on this list. It’s because they are on another list. Not because I don’t read their tweets.

The only ones that are definitely a strident ethno-Nationalists, that I have added are:

1– RRROBYN , who is an ethno-nationalist, yet not a white supremacist. She’s also supportive of Marcus Garvey, so she could be a ethno-separatist or ethno-segregationist? She’s not “racist”, she has SLavic husband! She’s stated that she’s not a Traditionalist.

2- Lana. Note Below about one particular person listed above in main list. A Former entry. I changed my mind about this. 

To note- I block only abusive and repetitive\boring accounts. I do unblock some, but only after a review that comes roughly every 2 years in December! If people with different political or religious views follow me, I don’t usually block them for no reason. I also do not encourage dogpiling or abuse. She may be following me to get news and views. I wonder if my views will ping with her? To date, no big league avowed Stalinist or Communist has followed me. I will give them as much mention as this one. (Fair’s fair!) I mute plenty of people and I do unmute them after a time. I do block promoted ads permanently!

My following of these accounts are not from wanting to endorse them. It’s from curiousity and helping to define and refine my own version beliefs. I often disagree with their tweets.

I would replace the word Islamophobia with the word Muslimophobia.

I do not agree with Marxism\Trotskyism\Maoism\Leninism\Stalinism. I believe in equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome.

I do not agree with the tactics of so called self named “Antifa”. I am anti-fascist. I do support Anarchists, when they fight against ISIS.I would say that I’m Quaker or Tolstoyan in my Pacifism.

I am not Transphobic, while saying that, I am also not a supporter of the advocates of trans ideology. I am interested in the arguments of those who are gender critical.

Lesbians should not be erased by those using pro-Trans speech.

No such thing as a “Female penis” or “Male vagina”. 

I am a supporter of Rational femininity, rather than the woke intersectional 3rd wave feminist idea. I am not a supporter of many aspects of feminism ideology that seems very bigoted and misandrious of men. I often say that I am a Gender egalitarianist, which is close to what I believe, yet not exact. I do think a sex based division of labour will always exist. (There isn’t many female coal miners, for example) I often say that feminism is not monolithic.

I am against plastic pollution. We should return to wood, steel and twine if possible. Recycle-Repair-Reuse. 

I am pro-democracy. I am for proportional representation in the UK. #MakeVotesMatter 

I would like the UK to have a written constitution.

I would like re-nationalisation of the Railways.

At the moment, I am a theoretical republican, but i am okay\ambivalent with “Queen Elizabeth the 2nd”.

At the moment, I support House of Lords Reform.

I believe all things should start at Eighteen (18) years old. I would raise the age of consent. Army entry would be 18. Voting rights would be 18. Allowed to marry only at 18. Pay tax at 18. Education should be to 18. This drive to have things all at 16, should be reversed.

I believe in long prison terms. Prison should be unpleasant and the idea of “Be better at being law abiding. Can’t handle the time, then avoid doing the crime.” should be hammered into everyone. A hard line approach. I’m quite conservative on this topic.

All illegal immigrants to be returned to country of depature.

I support the Portuguese model on Drugs. I would legalise cannabis.

I support the New Zealand model when it comes to Sex Workers and prostitution.

I am totally against genital mutilation. Those under 18 should not be subjected to any form of circumcision. It is parental abuse of they do it for Cosmetic or religious reasons. After 18 years old, the person is free to choose.

I do not support trans surgery for under 18s.

I do not support Trident Nuclear weapons.

I would like to have seen a decentralised Confederation of European Nations, rather than a European Union.

I voted Remain. I however support tacitly -Brexit.

I support the NHS. 

I support the right to form unions.

I do support nationalizing the railways.

I would support UK Federalism.

I would support Scotland, Wales and England becoming independent nations. Though I am nostalgic for the idealistic Britain that many want.

I would restore the English and Welsh regiments. This is tied in with the Trident issue.

I am pro allotment and Small holdings. I am very supportive of John Seymours book about self sufficient lifestyles. Also, Wendell Berry.

I am not a Nationalist or wouldn’t describe myself as such. I am a localist, regionalist and Separatist supporter in my own country. I do however support many nationalistic groups in OTHER countries:

Free Tibet. Free West Papua. Free Basque county. Free Catalonia. Free Brittany. Free Kurdistan.(Free Rojava)

This may be doublethink*, yet every country is different, so your thinking must reflect that. I’m generally fine with whatever my country is happy with.

I support a constitutional monarchy in Iran. #FreeIran. (*See what i mean?)

I support a Single state Korea under south Korean democracy.

I would like to see the breakup of bigger states. China and Russia are too powerful. 

Crimea is Russian. This may be controversial to many. No, I don’t support how the restoration was conducted. 

I support Taiwan and Hong Kong.

I am not pro Palestine or pro Israel. I criticise BOTH sides. I do not support religious government.I do not support illegal settlements. I do believe that israel, in its 1967 borders, has a right to exist. I take a Sam Harris approach.

If these beliefs are too “Nazi” for those on the far Far Left…..F*ck off!

Drat! An apology.

Drat. Yup. I messed up. I saw a tweet that had @‘ed me in. Nothing wrong with that, yet it had added @Jack in as well. It said “@Jack’s team is shit!” Now, I don’t mind swearing and I like the fishing guy behind this account(I’ve had a few laughs over the years), yet I’m also critical of Twitter because I think it’s rigged against me. I’m getting few followers, my reach is reduced and I’m getting tweet fade at 238 impressions. So, if someone adds my @ in with the CEO of Twitter, I’m jumping. I have paranoia, so sometimes it thinks ahead of me and I ovethink.

So what did I do? 

I sent a tweeted reply back to WoodsmanUK saying basically “don’t add me in tweets like that. If YOU want to insult Jack or His team that’s fine..just don’t add me into it, because if it occurs, I’ll unfollow and block if you do. Thank you.”

Bit strong. Bit stupid. A snap reaction. Yet I don‘t want to be suspended. I probably won’t be, yet that’s what the paranoia (the para) does to you.I thought about it after tweeting (as you do) and I was in the process of backing down and explaining my reasons and was going to delete the tweet. Then I had a tweet back…saying goodbye and I found that he had blocked me. 

Drat! I didn’t want that! 

I had someone tweet him back to say about my reasoning. I await a reply via that account.(1)

I’ve been on Twitter a while. I’ve been on since August 2012. I know many have been on longer, yet I do think 8 years is still a very long time pumping out tweets and Retweets daily. I probably have the most liked made by anyone. 238,000+ and rising daily.  I TRY to find the best tweets, the funniest tweets, good memes and good content on Twitter.
I cover politics, religion and entertainment. I of course can’t see everything and I don’t retweet everything I see. I’m not complaining much. I’ve had few complaints either. I’ve had good conversation, made witty replies and created loads of Atheist Memes. I’ve met good people. I’ve tweeted and Retweeted about 331,000+ times(June 2020) and this is rising daily. I’ve been followed by mildly and wildly famous people. Been Retweeted by some of them!

 Some. A few. Not all. I’m not actually much seen by famous people in general. I think a lot of them do see me and they IGNORE ME, even as I retweet them, recommend then and praise up what they do. Do I expect them to retweet me or interact with me? No. Course I don’t, yet…..after I’ve done what I do for several years ….You would think that a famous person would say “Hey, thank you for doing what you do! I appreciate it.” Not a general public tweet, but a straight up ‘I’m sending this to you!’ kinda tweet! How many of them do you think I’ve had? …….*tumbleweed blows by……..

 Anyways…

 As to the people that follow me and they are mostly 90%  regular people…. Yeah,  I’ve been Retweeted by them, in the past,  lots, occasionally, rarely, far and few between….doesn’t matter…It’s all very much appreciated. And I do often say to them, “That’s a good tweet. I like that!”

But

There is ONE BIG gripe! As I said, It’s mostly the smaller accounts that Retweet me. I’ve Retweeted them, of course. They like the interraction. They like the extra followers that my retweet brings. Brilliant. Yes, 

But

Now we come to The bigger atheist accounts. The real big ones….I’ve Retweeted many of their tweets daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. Through wind, snow, rain and Ice. I’ve often had hot messy debates left, right and centre, because of the things I’ve retweeted, while the Original tweeter hasn’t joined in the conversation. THAT’S UP TO THEM OF COURSE. I think I’ve proved and doubly proved my loyalty to many of them.

But 

Have they Retweeted my tweets as much? 

NO …THEY FUCKING HAVEN’T. I SEE THEIR ACCOUNTS STILL INCREASING IN FOLLOWERS, WHILE MY ACCOUNT IS IN THE DOLDRUMS, FLAILING AROUND AND SEEMINGLY RESTRICTED, RATIO’ED OR WHATEVER TWITTER HAS DONE TO ME. I WAS ON A PROJECTED RISE IN FOLLOWERS TO 18,500 IN LATE 2016 ACCORDING TO A TWITTER ANALYTIC THAT MEASURED THESE THINGS, AND THEN….TWO UPDATES ON TWITTER SEEMED TO KILL MY ACCOUNT. I USED TO GET 20 FOLLOWERS A DAY, THEN IT WENT TO BARELY 5 IN TWO DAYS. MY TWEETS SEEM TO GET GOOD IMPRESSIONS FOR A TIME, THEN FADE. TRICKLES. TINY STEPS. DRIBBLES, IS HOW I DESCRIBE MY ACCOUNT NOW. 

 DO THEY HELP ME OUT? DO THEY DUCK!!!

I USED TO GIVE EXTENSIVE FF’S. YOU KNOW WHERE YOU USE A TWEET ON FRIDAY TO LIST YOUR FOLLOWERS AS A BIG SLAP ON THE BACK! YOU’D GET ATHEIST FOLLOWERS BY THE DOZEN, THEN YOU NOTICE, THAT YOU’RE THE ONLY ONE DOING IT AND YOU DON’T GET LISTED ON THEIR FF’S. NOT EVEN ONCE. SOME OF THEM NEVER DO #FF’s EVER!

Circle jerk atheists. Circle jerk atheists everywhere!

Oh no! Have i broke ranks? Have I become a heretic?

NO! I’m not having a go! Honest! When I mention Circle Jerk Atheists,  I’m just describing a type of TwitterAtheist and since I am a representative of that type, it’s not bigotry, racism, sexist or transphobic! I’m just describing.

Just imagine:

You’re an atheist and you are all over Social Media. You see an atheist meme on Instagram. You like it, so you share it to Twitter, where it is seen by a godless account following you.Then that meme is shared to Reddit, where it is again seen by an atheist, who then shares it to Facebook. It’s there for a couple of hours, when it’s seen in an atheist group by a self declared militant(He’s shouted “God is imaginary!” in a church …once!) anti-thiestic atheist, who also has Pinterest, so he pins it to their ‘Godless board of Atheist memes’. It is then seen by another atheist on Minds, who posts it to their account. It is then seen by an agnostic atheist, who shares it to Instagram!

And the circle jerking goes around again! And again! 

Sick of the sight of it! Shared over and over and over and over! 

So it then goes back around! Especially this one! I can remember sharing this in late 2012! 8 years of seeing the same god damned f*cking thing! It’s an endless loop! 

With apps like Pinterest, you could share just one atheist board containing 23,000+ infographics\memes and say to the new to Twitter atheist “Here you go! Plenty there. Waste an afternoon or three looking through them all! Knock yourself out!

On Twitter, Atheist memes are tweeted out fairly often by the bigger accounts. They get their likes and Retweets and are passed on again. And again! And again! And again! And again! And again! And then…

again!

They are sometimes seen by Christians, Muslims and Jews, yet because most of these bigger atheist accounts followers are liberal, Trump hating, pro-choice atheists, it’s going nowhere. I do understand why they do it. New atheists join Twitter all the time and some memes may not have been seen before by them. The may be angry atheists, out to find a community so the infographics bind people together.

It’s a great way to get followers to join in on a conversation. It can be also used to bait evangelical Christians, who are cruising the #Atheist hastags. I’ve done this myself. I’ve created 100+ atheist memes. True story– I’ve created so many when half drunk, that I can’t remember if a meme is mine or not! 

If a theist, usually a Christian or a Muslim loaded up on apologetics and belligerence, responds to the meme, they will trot out all the seen before arguments, which are ably dismantled by the atheist tweeter, who has generally read the bible and The God delusion and plenty of other books! Other AtheistTweeters join in a rational dogpile upon the theist interloper. The theist often mutes, frequently blocks. Memes are used in this debate over several hours.

Nothing much is achieved. I have yet to see a tweet from a Christian along the lines of “Oh, I’ll have to rethink my beliefs on that!” The phrase Preaching to the crowd is very apt. The atheists will feel validated, the Christian or Muslim, will pull some “victory” from it by twisty word play and a refusal to listen to anyone.

And then several months down the line it’s all played out the same and that fucking same atheist meme will crop up again. (*Claps hands, like a demented Kurt Cobain!)

That’s what Atheist Twitter is. It can be useful, yet there’s little originality. Share from this site, send it, receive likes and retweets and then repeat. 

There is only one point to this blog and that is to point out the sheer banality of it, while many really do think their sofa based atheism is actually doing Something because they receive all these likes they aren’t doing anything!

 It’s an atheist circle jerk! Other to saying that, this blog just a moan.

Twitter atheism has just become so boring to me!

“Oh look at me everyone! I’ve shared a meme that shows how brainless religion is! Now give me likes and retweets , even though all I did was see a picture on Pinterest and activated a “share this with Twitter” button…oh oh my poor finger from all of this Twitter activism!….Help ease the pain in my finger from sharing this meme that has been shared 70 times this year! Look at the great thing I have done? Look how elevated in my intelligence I am, compared to those nasty people, who are seeking something to help them get through life cos it’s hard to face reality sometimes. Those indoctrinated from 3 years old idiots who think talking donkeys are real!”

So brave! So courageous! 

In place of where I’d share an atheist meme, I’m now retweeting cat, bird and landscape photos, or photos of the sky and of Space. Unless you are creating NEW ATHEIST MEMES to share or you are focused on actually helping atheists, or fighting against some blasphemy law and combating  theocracy, AtheistTwitter really is a waste of time!

Why haven’t you got a Twitter bio?

Because, i found it was problematic. My previous written bios, for I have had several versions, had the beliefs I hold all listed out.

Atheist, eco-socialist, feminist, etc. This means ppl would assume things about me that weren’t strictly true. That I was an antitheist. That I was a vegan hippy, that I was a Marxist, that I was a 3rd wave feminist. All these are untrue. 

So I tried to be more specific and that didn’t work out. I couldn’t fit in moderate atheist, eco-communalitarianist, confederate localism and gender egalitarianist. 

I tried funny bios with witty phrases, yet it was boring to see them everyday and I kept changing them.

What I have now are other people’s @ accounts in my bio. This makes it easier to go straight to them by tapping, it promotes them and it avoids “well this is what your bio says!” conversations.

Numbered Accounts on Twitter.

Feminists, especially 3rd wave.

It’s just a waste of time talking to them! 

It’s far better to ignore the lot of them and tweet out bird and cat photos and retweeting accounts about environmentalism, space and gardening.

Who can you talk to?

Pagans.

Traditionalists.

Anti-feminists.

Gender critical.

Atheists.

Agnostics.

Rationalists.

Centre left.

Classic liberals.

Centre right.

And strangely, ethno-nationalists, Quakers and Pope-hating catholics. (They think he’s too left wing!!!)

What to do about Numbered Accounts?

As you know, if you are on Twitter, there are many names of accounts. You have real names, blog names, organisational names, cartoon character names and symbolic names. Some make sense to all, many make sense to some and a few are genre\community specific.

Then there are the Numbered Accounts. These are the accounts that are very obviously:

1-New or fairly recent

2-With no bio

3-With no header wallpaper

4-Low in numbers of followers

5-High in number of tweets

6-No real person to person intetactions.

7-They come out tweeting with no hesitancy, seemingly like they’ve had a Twitter account before.

8-Followed by several Numbered Accounts. Some are followed by random accounts that are usually using Automatic Followback.

9-Fixed to one subject. Either a conspiracy theory, a celebrity or political cause.

10-Seemingly used to ask a question, to deflect from a question that you asked the bigger account.(Sock puppet)

This list above is one that lays down the main characteristics of these accounts.Some accounts, especially older versions, do have random letters instead of numbers, yet can still be identified using the above list. These accounts retweet and like their owners or like-minded tweets. These accounts are bots. They are bought accounts used to boost opinions, publicity stunts, political opinions and celebrities visibility on Twitter. There are also pornbots and Advertismentbots, which have a self explanatory reason why they are on Twitter.

What can be done about them? Nothing much. Nothing to stop them coming on Twitter or being created by TrollFarms. Nothing can stop them from following you or from liking tweets. You can only react.

You can point out that you recognize what they are. You don’t answer their questions. You can ignore, mute or block. You can say that You won’t answer their questions until they alter the numbers, gain a bio and gain 100 followers(which You can check). You can also play #SpotABot with them by QuoteTweeting them with this hashtag. Explain what led you to conclude why you think they are a bot.

The only caveat that exists is that they are genuine new people joining Twitter and have not yet orientated themselves. You can tell this is true by the replies they give. If you have a “Oh, I didn’t know about getting rid of the numbers!” or ” Can you explain further? I’m sorry! “. Bots normally come out with more questions related to what they are tweeting about or they will block you.
