The Independent: Yes, it is ok to punch a Nazi like Richard Spencer in in the face. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwpeysizQ

Do i care that Spencer was hit by a (AntiFa) anarchist? No.

Do I think Spencer should be hit by a (AntiFa) anarchist? No.

It’s a hard decision to say that. I dislike the Nazi ideology. Very much so. As an atheist, Eco-Socialist Prochoice, pro-Trans and Pro-Gay Rights advocate and internationalist, I’d probably be in a Concentration Camp, if it was the 1930s in Germany.

Here’s the but….

BUT

I’m also an advocate of Free Speech(according to UK Law). I support the right of anyone to be able to stand in a public place and say what they think and what they believe.I don’t think they should be attack by a suckerpunch to the head. They may have offensive ideas, but until they break the law, they have the right to speak.

You do not have the right to assault them

And

They do not have the right to assault you!

So, getting close, but not touching, to their face and making a series of noises*, loud enough to disrupt what they are saying is perfectly correct.

Non-violent AntiFa group action is more effective than a lone wolf assault on a person. Social shaming is better than suckerpunching. If the nazi reacts violently..it’s they who will go to jail, not you.

To hit a person in order to (briefly) shut them up is a fascist thing to do….so, as hard as it is to say..that anarchist was acting like a fascist!

These two tweets are my view.

You may disagree with me, but I’m not going to hit you for having it!

* noises such as whistles, hooters/horns and rattles.

http://www.twitter.com/GSpellchecker had a very interesting debate. Check him out.
